In 2002, Liz Logie set out to design a classic button down shirt for women reminiscent of the finest English shirtings for men. She chose exquisite European cottons in vibrant colors and unique prints, finished with distinctive trim and antique buttons.
She believed that stylish women would respond to an impeccably-cut garment that was a shirt and accessories in one, delivering practicality and pizzazz in one punch.
She was right. The smart-and-sexy shirt was an instant success, and the Liz Logie line took off. Her first collection was a sell-out at Barneys New York and her label is now featured at high-end retailers and specialty boutiques across the nation. Women found what they had been waiting for in the Liz Logie "classic with a twist" design DNA and wanted more.
Today, in addition to the original Liz shirt, her line includes luxurious silk blouses, eye-catching tunics, cutting-edge jackets and sophisticated dresses.
But her design philosophy hasn't changed since she sketched the first cotton button-down.
"I’'m a woman designing for women. I focus on making looking good easy. I think about my customers and how they are going to wear the clothes. Every shirt I design works back to black, white or brown pants, something every woman has in her wardrobe. It's a great look for any occasion. Make that many occasions."
As a former corporate attorney, a current mother of three and a fashion designer, she knows that today's busy woman wants to invest in pieces that work for many occasions but are never predictable.
Or, to quote her label, be elegant, be sexy, and by all means, be unique.
